On a hilltop that overlooks the Potomac River is the college community of Georgetown University. Georgetown University is the oldest Roman Catholic University in the United States and maintains its Jesuit tradition of excellence in education. The University is located amidst a wealth of cultural and social activities in a vibrant, semi-urban atmosphere comprised of several hundred shops, restaurants, nightclubs, theaters and sidewalk cafes.

The Campus is small yet diverse, a self-contained community, where your needs can be met for both work and recreation, including:

CAMPUS DINING SERVICES
Dining hall offer meal plans on a cash sales basis or board plan.
Hoya's a restaurant and sports bar
The Faculty Club, a restaurant
Epicurean and Co., offering a variety of dining formats, including hibachi stations, a sushi bar and grill station
Vital Vittles, a grocery and convenience store, managed by The Students of Georgetown, Inc. (The Corp.).
Hoya Snaxa, a smaller convenience store, managed by The Corp.
Uncommon Grounds, a coffee house also managed by The Students of Georgetown, Inc.
A variety of fast food options
THE ACCOMMODATIONS
Many of Georgetown's on-campus residential facilities have been fully renovated in the past few years. The air-conditioned accommodations are comfortable, convenient, and economically priced.
Students with the same arrival and departure dates only will be assigned together.
Apartments (Four-, five-, six- and seven-person) contain:
two to three bedrooms assigned as singles or doubles.
a living room and dining area
bathroom
full kitchen, which includes a refrigerator, freezer, oven/stove and sink with garbage disposal
air-conditioning
Note: some apartments have built-in bunk beds and furniture. Some refrigerators may not be full-sized.
Residence Hall Rooms (doubles being used as singles) contain:
beds
desks with a hutches
bookshelves
drawers
built-in closets
carpeting
desk chairs
air-conditioning (has its own temperature control)
Apartments and room sizes and layouts vary.
Residence Hall Rooms and Apartments are not equipped with:
Pillows, sheets, desk lamps, pots/pans, utensils, blankets, towels, wastepaper baskets, microwaves, televisions, telephones, clock radios and computers
Guests residing on campus:
May receive mail through designated campus mail boxes.
Have the option to install personal phones in each room.
Have access to card operated laundry facilities located in each apartment complex and residence hall.
Must carry a photo ID card.
Must swipe a Conference Visitor Card issued at check-in to gain entrance to their building and again at the guard station.
SECURITY
Georgetown's location just within the perimeter of the city makes it relatively safe, although security is always an issue in an urban environment.
Security guards staff the residence halls 24 hours daily.
The campus is patrolled around the clock by officers of the Department of Public Safety to ensure the security of our community.
There are also numerous emergency phones located strategically throughout the campus.

TRANSPORTATION
Washington, DC offers a modern, efficient and inexpensive public transportation system that serves the Georgetown community well.
The campus shuttle is available from Monday through Friday.
Using the shuttle and metro system or busses a round-trip cost is approximately $3.00 - $5.00 daily traveling within the city.
The White House, Capitol Hill, Smithsonian Institution, Kennedy Center, with a wide variety of performing arts programs, and downtown offices are all easily accessible by bus or metro. Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport and Union Station are also nearby and can be reached easily by metro or taxi.
PARKING
There is no on-campus parking.
HEALTH SERVICES
The Georgetown University Hospital is adjacent to campus for your use in case of emergency or illness.
HOME OWNER'S INSURANCE
Students should carry insurance. The University is not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings.
RECREATION
Individuals may use the University's athletic facility, Yates Field House, which includes courts for basketball, racquetball, handball and squash, a 25-meter swimming pool and diving well, universal weight machines, saunas and a dance room. There are outdoor tennis courts.
In addition, the Georgetown neighborhood offers visitors many recreational opportunities ranging from canoeing on the Potomac to biking or running along the historic C&O Canal towpath.
