SUPERVISORS' SAFETY AND HEALTH CHECKLIST

This checklist provides several (but not all) important items for supervisors to perform a safety inspection of their own laboratory. Please feel free to amend this list by adding laboratory specific reminders in the spaces provided.

    1. Spills promptly cleaned. Stained bench paper replaced.

    1. Chemicals returned to proper storage areas. (No incompatible storage. Hazardous materials at or below eye level.)

    1. Hazardous chemicals and glass containers NOT stored on floor.

    1. Non-hazardous chemicals stored on floor ONLY if stored in secondary container.

    1. All containers labeled.

    1. Waste containers labeled with ingredients and relative concentrations.

    1. Proper autoclaving procedures followed.

    1. Materials stored at least 18 inches (w/ sprinklers) or 24 inches (w/o sprinklers), (6" TRB) away from the ceiling.
