Farm Subsidies: The Role of Trade in Feeding the Hungry

When representatives of the Group of Eight industrialized nations met for the 31st time in July 2005 in Gleneagles, Scotland, they agreed to provide debt relief of over $40 billion for heavily indebted nations and pledged to increase foreign aid by $50 billion.  These measures will go a long way toward alleviating poverty in many of the world’s poorest countries, most of which are in Africa.  Pundits and policymakers around the globe...read more...
