If you have a credit balance on your student account, you may be eligible for a refund. You will have a credit balance on your acount if the sum of the credits towards your account (payments, loans, scholarships, etc) is greater than the sum of charges against your account. Estimated aid is NOT a credit to your account, it is a note of possible future credit. You will not be eligible for a refund until the aid is disbursed to your account by the Office of Student Financial Services.
In addition, you are NOT eligible for a refund if:
- You are on the Georgetown University Monthly Payment Plan. Your payment plan account must be paid in full before you will become eligible.
- You are on an athletic scholarship of any kind. All refund requests for scholarship athletes must first be brought to Cornell Burke in the Athletics department.
- You are an international exchange student. All refund requests by exchange students must originate in the Office of International Programs.
- You paid by credit card. Credit card refunds will be refunded directly to the credit card account.
Refunds may be requested as early as one week before the start of classes. However, we strongly reccomend that if at all possible you complete your registration before applying for a refund. Changes to your registration, housing status, meal plan, or student health insurance will result in changes to your bill and thus the amount you owe (or are owed). You are responsible for immediately paying any charges later posted to your student account, or you will face late fees and service charges. This applies to charges throughout the semester. If new credits are posted to your account, or if charges are removed, you will have to make another request for a refund. |
