Christopher L. Augostini, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Christopher L. Augostini is the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Georgetown University.  In this role he is responsible for the overall financial management of the University, which includes the preparation and monitoring of the multi-year operating, capital and financing plans.

In 2007 Georgetown President John J. DeGioia asked Mr. Augostini to increase the scope of his responsibilities by leading the implementation of the University’s mission in global executive education and training.  In this capacity, Mr. Augostini executes President DeGioia’s plan to offer customized educational programs to developing leaders and other professionals around the world.  To date, Mr. Augostini has led the execution of a highly innovative program in China and is working with leaders in several other countries in Asia and the Middle East to consider opportunities for their nations, private enterprises, and non-governmental agencies.

From 2000-2003 Mr. Augostini served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Georgetown University Law Center, where he managed operating and capital plans and all matters relating to real estate and facility development.  Before joining Georgetown University, Mr. Augostini served in the administration of Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani from 1995-2000. As Chief-of-Staff to the City of New York’s Deputy Mayor for Operations from 1999-2000, he was responsible for strategic planning initiatives for the City’s core operating agencies. He also served as Mayor Giuliani’s Director of Intergovernmental Affairs with responsibility for directing the City’s communications with the congress, state legislature and city council.

Mr. Augostini’s earlier duties included service as a Deputy Budget Director for Revenue and Intergovernmental Affairs at the City of New York’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) from 1995-1999. In this capacity, he prepared, negotiated and monitored the City’s revenue budget and multi-year revenue forecasts. He also was responsible for overseeing OMB’s intergovernmental affairs staff and routinely analyzed and measured the impact of Federal, State and City legislative changes on the City’s financial plan.

Mr. Augostini served the State of New York from 1989 to 1995. Before working at the state level, he conducted workforce and economic development research projects in the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government, the public policy research arm of the State University of New York.
