Tarik M. Yousef Tarik M. Yousef is Associate Professor of Economics in the School of Foreign Service and Shaykh Al-Sabah Chair of Arab Studies in the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, both at Georgetown University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and specializes in development economics and economic history with a particular focus on the Middle East. His current research interests include the dynamics of labor markets, the political economy of policy reform, development policies in oil-exporting countries, and the economic history of Egypt. Dr. Yousef’s research and policy experience includes working at the Middle East Department of the International Monetary Fund; the Office of the Chief Economist in Middle East and North Africa Region of the World Bank; and the Millennium Project at the UN. At present, he is a Non-resident Senior Fellow in the Wolfenson Center for Development at Brookings and the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government. He is on-leave at the Dubai School of Government during the academic year 2007-08.
