When you walk into the perfectly air conditioned campus buildings on a sweltering day, you?ll witness just one of the ways the Utilities Department delivers its critical support services to Georgetown University.
On top of keeping Georgetown's collective cool, the Utilities Department delivers energy and water services to University facilities and implements conservation programs for these services. It takes an incredible amount of energy to keep Georgetown University running on a daily basis.
The Utilities Department operates energy management systems which maintain building security access systems and cooling. Most University buildings are heated and cooled by steam and chilled water generated at a central utility plant next to McDonough Gym. A recently completed plant addition with two 2,000-ton chillers has improved the efficiency and reliability for cooling campus facilities. We guarantee you'll think this was a great idea next August!
If you have a heating, cooling or other utility problem that requires maintenance, please contact the Work Management Center at 687-3432. If you have a general comment, suggestion or request, please contact the Utilities Department at 687-7416
